LTA Alumnae: Living it up and changing the world…

Ahhh if only life could be as carefree as it was in the undergrad days where we had plenty of time to drive more than two hours in support of another chapter, and still drive back that same night to be in class the next morning. Well with children, work, and other obligations leaving your home to attend a meeting anywhere that is not in 45 minute radius from your home may seem unreasonable. But should that stop us from being connected and still working together? No.

We propose to you the concept of satellite meetings as an
effort to draw more sisters into the concept of becoming active through Lambda Alpha. Florida does not have the luxury of other smaller states where we can drive from one end to the other in less than three hours, but there is no reason we can’t recreate the same feel of each monthly meeting in areas that have high concentration of alumni (South Florida, Tampa, Orlando, Gainesville/Jacksonville )

Here’s how we envision the set up: We have six e-board members who live in all parts of the state. So we’re spreading our resources. Each month, instead of driving to one location for the meeting, or teleconferencing in, a team of e-board members living in your region will host the meeting in your neck of the woods.

During the first portion of the meeting each region and it’s e-board members will call into a teleconference line. Each officer will deliver their report chock-full- of news and updates so that you’re in the loop. Afterwards, we’ll hang up and let the bonding and festivities begin in each region.

Our mindset is that you have to create incentives to make a grown professional woman want to devote a precious Saturday to her sisterhood. Make it worth her while, make it a little outside of the box…

Some ideas for what we like to call themed meetings that a) will allow us to get to know each other a little better and b) allow us to host more community service and personal development events….
